She wanted to “ring in people’s head(s),” like the song "Jingle Bells." "Respectfully feisty" with golden hoop earrings, she was a student at Santee Educational Complex who bonded with the AmeriCorps team that ran its after-school City Year program.
“You are responsible for the little gray hair in the back of my head; but it's that attitude and sass that drew people to you,” a team leader wrote.
Hannah Ronyae' Bell, 15, was shot outside a burger restaurant in South Los Angeles on April 27, 2018. According to her brother, her last words were “I got shot, mama. It burns.”
