Grant Antonio Payton

Age 16

South Fulton, Georgia

He was starting his first job

He was a good kid in a neighborhood that residents called “no longer safe.

But “[h]e wasn’t in a gang, he didn’t sell drugs,” his mother said. He was starting his first job at Chick-fil-A. "He was so excited about getting that job. He was so happy."

On May 29, 2018, 16-year-old Grant Antonio Payton was shot in the face in front of his best friend’s house on Two Lakes Circle in Atlanta, Georgia. “It’s a pain I can’t describe,” his mother said. Less than 36 hours later, shots were fired in retaliation at a nearby house on One Lake Way.
