Dylan Thomas McElrath

Age 15

Hixson, Tennessee

An honor student and supportive friend

He was a friend, a best friend. A favorite student, even to teachers who didn’t pick favorites. They remember the smile he always wore.

It was around 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday in Hixson, Tennessee. Maybe he was getting ready for bed. Maybe he was gearing up for “just one more game” — he liked video games. Maybe he was getting ready to go out, to the movies, to a friend’s house,  or to take the dog on another walk, just like any other Saturday night.

On Saturday, August 20, 2018, Dylan Thomas McElrath, 15, and his dog were both shot multiple times by Dylan’s father.
