Devon David Gross

Age 18

Austin, Texas

One of hundreds of students remembered

Of the hundreds of students she personally greeted every day, four years after she saw him, she remembered him.

“He was always sweet and kind and polite to me,” said the school nurse at Round Rock Opportunity Center in Round Rock, Texas. Despite working two jobs and looking for a third,  “(h)e was always smiling. Always smiling,” his mother said.

On the hot summer evening of June 27, 2018, Devon David Gross, 18, was shot and killed at a gas station in Austin, Texas. “I counted 10 …10 gunshots,” a witness said.
