Before he knew anything more, her brother, James, read the news story about what had happened to two teenagers with a gun in a car. “That’s bad,” he first thought.
Later, he would describe his sister as “very bright” with her whole life ahead of her. “We thought we'd get together on Christmas which is not so," he added.
Destiny J. Loper, 17, was riding in a car with a friend in St. Petersburg, Florida, when a gun that belonged to her friend accidentally fired. She was shot in the back and killed. James started the GoFundMe page to raise funds for her burial.
