Desean Rondell Bonet

Age 18

Columbus, Ohio

Interning one day, gone the next

He had three brothers and two sisters. They said he was energetic with his big smile and contagious laugh. He also was very independent and “strong-minded,” they said. After graduating from high school, he began interning in construction. Maybe it would have led to steady employment in an ever-changing economy.

But he got into an early morning fight over Memorial Day weekend. Police found him lying on the ground outside a house. Suddenly, his bright future was gone. Desean Rondell Bonet was shot and killed in Columbus, Ohio, on May 26, 2018. He was 18 years old.
