De'ijuan Landrew Williams

Age 15

Eastpointe, Michigan

One last night of innocent fun

He was very family-oriented and close to his brothers. He dreamed of playing basketball for his high school. He wanted his family and friends to cheer him on.

He was a sophomore. He felt a new sense of independence and with so many goals to accomplish. He dreamed of getting his driver’s license and owning a car, his family said. He wanted more basketball games to play, more brotherly bonds and parties to attend with friends. Parties shouldn’t have tragic endings.

De'Ijuan Landrew Williams, 15, was fatally shot attending a house party in Detroit on Aug. 18, 2018.
