Davion Ervin

Age 18

Chicago, Illinois

Gifted teen with an unrealized dream

He was an orator with a dream to do good in society. His mother remembers a home video of him reciting MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech, for the Concerned Christian Men mentoring group he was a part of.

The bright student was gifted, performing well on tests without needing to study. His mother, who raised him alone, called his intellect “innate.”

Davion Ervin, 18, was fatally shot by an unidentified gunman in the head, right wrist and upper back in Chicago, Illinois. He was pronounced dead at 11:14 a.m. on May 15, 2018.
