Although he didn’t live in the neighborhood, he visited his family there regularly, so people started to recognize him.
Resident Algin Robinson thought nothing of the gunshots he heard one night. Hearing them was becoming routine. But then he heard moaning, so he went outside.
Darryl Lamar Johnson, known as “DJ” to his friends, was shot in the chest in Jacksonville, Florida on June 11, 2018. He was left on the ground for 30 minutes until Robinson found him and called the authorities. He later died at a nearby hospital.
