Danielle Valerie Gunson

Age 18

Essex, Maryland

Her last words, purple and orange

She was a small-town girl from Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, a senior at South River High School. Ready to graduate, she dreamed about becoming a nurse in the Army. She enjoyed family activities and her favorite author was Nicholas Sparks.

Her last note to her mother was in purple and orange marker: “Dear mom, I just want you to know how much I love you.”

Police found Danielle Valerie Gunson’s body at 9:21 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2018, lying against a chain link fence on Riverside Road in Baltimore City. She was 18. Police said it was a targeted shooting.
