Dae’Vion Charles Raines

Age 15

Duquesne, Pennsylvania

His little brother waits for him

He was known to bring a smile to everyone’s face. He grew up in a violent neighborhood, so he agreed with his mother on a list of places to stay away from because they were too dangerous.

His 3-year-old brother called him “Dae-Dae,” and waited every day for him to come home, eager to share his drawings from daycare. After it happened, he still waited.

Dae'Vion Charles Raines, 15, was on his way home when at least 15 shots were fired into the car he was riding in. He died of gunshot wounds on June 16, 2018, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania.
