Order of protection failed cosmetology teen

Her passion for cosmetology earned her a job interview that she couldn’t attend. With her sass and wit, she spread happiness around her.

This joy hid her struggles with domestic violence. Her rollercoaster relationship embarrassed her. If she had known about the vigil in Pulaski Park, with the balloon release, she would have found comfort in not being seen as a victim.

Ciara “Ci-Ci” Michelle Grimes, 18, died of gunshot wounds to the arm in Rochester, New York, on May 9, 2018,  four days after she was granted an order of protection against her ex-boyfriend.
