His devoted mother still misses him

His friends called him “Lil Los” or “Lil Carlos.” He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, attending first Sherwood Elementary and later Germantown High School.

His mother was devoted to him. On an online tribute page, she promised that his memory would live on.

On January 1, 2019, Carlos Demel Guy, 17, was on the way to visit his family on Crystal Oak Drive when he was shot. He was rushed to the Regional Medical Center, where he died. He was the first homicide victim in Shelby County of the year.
