Gunfire, not fireworks, on July 4th

Festivals help preserve Louisiana’s rich traditions of ethnicity, food, music and language. In the Heart of Acadiana, a term used to describe South Louisiana, the Fourth of July is another day  celebrated with festivals, parades and fireworks.

His friends and family called him “NoNo.” He lived in Carencro, a small city in Lafayette Parish. He worked at the Tractor Supply Company of Opelousas.

On July 4, 2018, Benorian Akheem “NoNo” Leonard, 18, was shot at about 11:40 p.m. on Lindsey Circle in Carencro, Louisiana.
