Avary Pope-Moore

Age 18

Hampton, Virginia

Never got to blow 18 candles

He was looking forward to his birthday: An emoji of the number 18 and the word “soon” plus a winking emoticon are still in his Facebook timeline.

A “mama’s boy,” in February he updated his Facebook cover photo to a selfie with his mom. Later, she shared the same photo on her Facebook: “I miss you!”

On July 29, 2018, Avary Pope-Moore was arguing with another teenager inside a home in Hampton, Virgina, when the other teen pulled a gun. Pope-Moore was shot and killed. It was his 18th birthday. The teen charged with his murder was 17.
