He spent his childhood in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, although he later moved a few miles away to Freeland.
His father wrote on Facebook that he was “a wonderful person, friend, and son! He changed the lives of everyone he came in contact with.” He had two brothers and three sisters.
Anthony G. Bonney, 17, was shot in the head on June 18, 2018, in Freeland Borough Public Park after what police say was a botched drug deal. He died at the hospital several hours later. Bowen was an organ donor, a fact that gives his father joy.
