An’janique Wright

Age 15

Kansas City, Missouri

She tried to help her twin

They had a bond that “nobody could bring down,” her twin sister said.

“She didn’t like people bullying other people, especially over her twin sister,” her cousin said. She went to Alternative Resources School where she was a good kid who made straight As.

An’janique Wright, 15, was shot outside of Central Academy of Excellence High School during a basketball game on Feb. 12, 2019 at 8:15 p.m. while trying to resolve a conflict another teen had with her sister. “We were trying to get our hugs in,” her older sister said. The next day, 150 people gathered across the street from the school in Kansas City, Missouri, to release balloons in her name.
