Angel Morales

Age 13

Houston, Texas

He found joy with his family

He liked to tell jokes, even when times were sad. His third-grade teacher recalled how he helped his classmates and hoped to grow up to become a police officer.

He would ride his bike around the neighborhood, and everybody from the sixth to the eighth grade at M.C. Williams Middle School recognized him. He found the most joy in time spent with his family. In fact, he was at a “family-friendly” block party, complete with a bounce house, when 20 rounds of gunfire broke out.

Angel Morales, 13, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 25, 2018.
