Erick Alvarez Coronel

Age 16

Chicago, Illinois

Who will his brother admire now?

A generous and loving 16-year-old, he served as a role model to his younger brother and cousins. He was part of a large, loving family and had a girlfriend.

He recently started working at South Loop Car Wash while attending Curie Metro High School as a junior. After five years of diligent practice, he earned a red/black belt at Lions Taekwondo Academy.

On February 10, 2019, Erick Alvarez Coronel was waiting at a red light in the Pilson neighborhood on the Lower West Side of Chicago. Someone pulled up beside him, fired a gun into the car, and shot him to death.
