Chicago, Illinois

A gift with words, never heard

Born during one of the coldest winters in Chicago, he was growing up cheerful, full of life, brilliant, big-hearted, loyal, outgoing and honest.

An aspiring rapper and “jus[t] a baby,” loved ones called him “Tutu.” His love for music was only matched by his love for his mother, father and five brothers and two sisters. The John Marshall Metropolitan High School student lived in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago.

Martin Christopher Duncan Jr., 16, died on April 25, 2018, a block away from his home after being shot multiple times. The motive behind his killing is unknown.
